Not All Paint Protection Film Installs Are The Same - The Difference Is Very Clear

Substandard work like what you see above is forcing us to write this article. While we don’t make a habit of comparing our work to what we see out in the field or from our competitors, we just cannot remain silent any longer. People are paying premium Dollars for mediocre and substandard work. This picture above is an example of what we have been seeing on cars coming into our shop to be re-done and vehicles we see out at car shows and such. This is unacceptable for what is being charged.

In general, we prefer to just let our work speak for itself. However, when the owner of a Porsche 911 asked us to re-do an installation done by a competitor, we felt the need to show the differences between what we do and what others are doing. You can see from the pictures we are including some examples of competitor work and our work (the Porsche in green) from an install we just completed for a customer.

We should start by saying that we do not claim to be perfect, but we are continually working to improve and push ourselves to give our customers the best possible job. We have a combined installation experience of over 20 years. This is important to know as many companies not doing this for as long are literally “learning” how to install while working on your car. Look at the work in the picture above. Do you want someone learning on your car?! We not only have the years under our belt, we are committed to ongoing training and fine tuning in order to give you the finest results for the hard earned money they are spending.

The first thing you will notice on competitor’s work are noticeable edges. If you look closely at the blue car you will see an edge line roughy 1/16’ - 1/8” from the edge of the panel. That is the result of utilizing a kit that only partially covers the exterior and leaves this unsightly edge line. Our install on the green car shows how we do things differently at Clear Bra Ohio.

Our custom install that completely wraps the panel for full coverage and leaves no visible edges. In fact, you would have been hard pressed to find on visible edge on this green 911 install. The car we are re-doing and others we see have edges like seen on the blue car above on every panel.

Next, let’s look at these three Porsche crest examples above. The yellow and the blue pictures are taken from competitor installations and the green one in the center being our installation. At Clear Bra Ohio we remove badges and associated trim pieces to do a complete installation with no visible edges. In most cases, competitor installs cut around the badge or trim work. This not only leaves visible lines, but often crooked ones like you can see in these pics.

Finally, the pics above show another example of how competitor’s installations leave much to be desired as you reach the end of a panel. You can see the crooked and visible lines on their install on the blue car vs our completely wrapped and virtually invisible install on the green car.

The owner of this Aventurine Green Metallic Porsche 911 Carrera 4S chose us specifically for this job. We did a complete paint protection film wrap on this green Porsche and the owner was thrilled. He had done his research and discussed the full wrap with numerous paint protection film companies.
